Welcome to the summer term! Let’s hope we have sunny and warm weather throughout the next few months so we can make the most of our great outdoor facilities with the children.
On Wednesday 25th March we were inspected by Ofsted, we were delighted with the outcome. We were rated GOOD and OUTSTANDING for “the contribution of the Early Years to the well being of the children”. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the staff for the excellent care and learning opportunities they offer the children at Ladybird.
Due to child protection and safeguarding recommendations staff will no longer be applying sun block to any child during a nursery session. Please ensure your child has sun protection on before dropping them off at nursery. It is also a good idea for them to have a long sleeved top on; we do provide sun hats for the children to wear in the garden.
Parent & family support
As you are aware the Nursery is a charity and, therefore, non-profit making. We receive income from the 2 year old and 3 year old funding from Norfolk County Council and from fees paid by some families. However, this only just covers our running costs. Improvements to the building, replacing worn out toys and equipment and developing new activities for the children are paid for by the money we generate from generous donations and fundraising. We have an excellent Fundraising team and are always looking for new ideas and people to join us to continue to make this successful.
Fundraising amounts from last half term were:
Bags2School £80.00, Ladies Craft & Pamper Evening £356.80, Children’s Easter Disco £393.35.
Cromer Carnival £700, Fledgeling music/Living eggs £139.50,
Charity Pots: Beeston Stores £33.40, Hallmark Cards £16.50.
Greek Music Night at The Constantia Cottage Restaurant, East Runton – Friday 5th June, 3 course meal, £30 with £5 coming to Ladybird and a raffle. Please let Helen know if you would like to join our “Ladybird and Co” table or book directly with the restaurant on 01263 512017. If you can donate a raffle prize please drop these in to the office at any time.
Sheringham Carnival Prince and Princess Selection Disco – Friday 31st July, 2-4pm at the Community Centre, Holway Road.
We desperately need more parents to help with organising and running events and to volunteer to help with various jobs around the nursery. If you could give us a couple of hours of your time or join our fundraising group we would be very grateful.
We need to provide a level, hard standing to accommodate a clothes bank next to the buggy shelter, if anyone has any paving slabs they could donate or could help to lay paving slabs please can you speak to either myself or Helen. Being able to accommodate a clothing bank will generate further income for the nursery.
Every year we have helped park cars and collect the parking fees for the Cromer Carnival car park last year we raised £700.00, we hope to be able to do this again this year but require volunteers. The date for this year is Wednesday 19th August and shifts last for one or two hours. If you, or any of your extended family could help please indicate this on the attached form.
Current jobs around the nursery that need doing range from cleaning outside windows, weeding, clearing and cleaning gutters, repairing a bench, washing dressing up clothes, dolls clothes and toys, counting the Sainsbury’s vouchers. A list is in the reception area please put your name against the jobs if you could help in any way. Thank you.
We will be having a cake stall at our Sports day on Wednesday 15th July; all donations of baking will be gratefully received! Thank you.
Sheringham Carnival Parade
To help the Fundraising Group decide if we enter Ladybird Pre School Nursery into the parade please can you indicate on the form if your child is likely to want to take part? The parade is on Wednesday 5th August starting in the early evening. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
We would all like to say a big WELL DONE to Charlotte Neale for completing her first Marathon in London. She did amazingly well and her time was 3 hours 14 minutes – WOW!!! We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for choosing Ladybird as her charity to run for, the sponsorship money is coming in daily! WELL DONE CHARLOTTE!!!!!
