Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the autumn term!

We hope you all had a wonderful Summer Break! Since returning to Nursery this Autumn we have been offering more flexible sessions and full days, 9am – 3.45pm including a Lunch Club for 3 and 4 year olds! This is proving to be popular and we are really enjoying having children join us for lunch! If you would like more information on adding in a Lunch Club please talk to us.

AGM and Open Evening

Our AGM and Open Evening will take place on Monday 7th November at 7.30pm. Please put this date in your diaries your attendance will be much appreciated, this is a time when you can meet the staff team, trustees, committee members and other parents and carers. There will be a short meeting followed by cheese and WINE! The evening also gives you the opportunity to look at your Child’s Learning Journey and ask any questions you may have regarding your child and the nursery.

EXCITING NEWS!!

We have just put an order in with SSP (Specialised Sports Products) to have the hard outside playground resurfaced with a Wet Pour rubber safety surface! This will greatly improve our outside facilities and enable us to use climbing frames, slides and other outside equipment in a safe manner. I would like to thank the Fundraising team and everyone who has been involved in raising funds to enable this to happen. Work should take place in November. The playground will be out of action for two or three days so the entrance and exit will be via the main door into the reception area only whilst the work is being carried out.

Thank You

We would like to thank the parents who helped wash dressing up clothes, aprons, dolls clothes etc. and who carried out small repairs and gardening last term. This really does help keep the Nursery and the toys and equipment safe and looking good. Please watch out for our next ‘jobs list’ and put your name down if you are willing and able to help.

Parent & family support

As you are aware the Nursery is a charity and, therefore, non-profit making. We receive income from the 2 year old and 3 year old funding from Norfolk County Council and from fees paid by some families. However, this only just covers our running costs. Improvements to the building, replacing worn out toys and equipment and developing new activities for the children are paid for by the money we generate from generous donations and fundraising. In past years we have had tremendous support for fundraising from the parents, staff members and the wider community. This is the money that we have used to help cover the cost for the new playground surface!

Fundraising amounts from last half term were:

Quiz Night £266.70, Royal Birthday Party Disco £261.11, Greek Music Night at the Constantia Cottage Restaurant £462.00, End of Term Raffle £74.00, Carnival Ted Devils £66.00, Carnival Prince and Princess Disco £214.25.

Donations received:

Sheringham Carnival – £100.00

Cromer Carnival – £800.00

Forthcoming events:

  • Christmas Tree Festival, Methodist Church – Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th
  • Quiz Night – Friday 11th

Please support these events and if you would like to help with fundraising (this includes DADS too!)  Please let Helen know and/or attend our next fundraising meeting – date to be confirmed.

Easy Fundraising – this is a very easy way to support Ladybird! Every time you shop on-line we could get a percentage of that spend directly to the Nursery. All you have to do is log on to www.easyfundraising.org.uk  register, find Ladybird Pre School Nursery and select us as your chosen charity then shop as normal, it doesn’t cost you a penny more, it’s that simple!

We also have some Ladybird charity boxes; if you have a shop or business where you could accommodate one of these or know someone who could this would be greatly appreciated, please let us know.

Term dates

The Nursery closes for half term on Friday 21st October 2016 and re-opens on Monday 31st October. We will be closing for the Christmas holidays on Thursday 15th December and re-open on Tuesday 10th January 2017. If you would like a complete list of term dates for 2016/2017 please ask or check our website.

Dropping off & collecting

Just to let you know that it is fine to drop off your child at Nursery at any time after their session start time and to collect before the end of session if this is more convenient for you. However, we do appreciate you collecting your child promptly at the end of the session. We know it is very tempting to ‘peep in’ through the top window to watch your child at our singing/story time at the end of the session. However, if your child sees you they can get very distressed as they are too young to understand that you are not immediately coming in to collect them, so we ask that you refrain from ‘peeping in’. Thank you. Please also remember that as part of our safeguarding policy we cannot allow the use of mobile phones anywhere in the nursery, this includes the reception area. We are sorry, but Buggies/pushchairs are not permitted in the reception area or nursery, please use the buggy shelter provided, or you are welcome to use the playground to collect your child from the side door if you have a pushchair with a younger sibling.

 Bags, shoes and coats

Thank you so much to the parents who have clearly named their children’s nursery bag it really helps with identification. Some parents have mentioned that they do not like their child’s name on the outside of their bag so we are requesting that you at least put their initials on it and there name inside the bag.  Could you also please clearly name your child’s coat, wellies, book bag and anything else they bring to Nursery! Thank you.

Illness

Please do not bring your child into Nursery if they are unwell or are requiring Calpol or similar to get through their session. Not only is it unfair to your child, they may be ‘sharing’ their viruses with other children, staff and parents. Please remember children need to be excluded from Nursery for at least 48 hours from last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting. Please telephone or email to let us know if your child won’t be attending nursery and for what reason, thank you.

Hello and Welcome!

I know you will join me in welcoming our new Nursery Senior Practitioner; Becky Gabriel. Becky will be our Nursery SENCo. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the current staff team.

Thank you for your continued support,

With best wishes,

Vanessa and the Ladybird Staff Team
